Randomized controlled trial Heartguard
Within the Heartguard program we have now started a randomized controlled trial. There are two groups in a randomized controlled trial. A so-called intervention group and a control group. The intervention group will receive the Heartguard measuring devices at home, the control group will not receive them. In this trial, patients will be followed for two years. After two years, the intervention group and the control group will be compared to see if the Heartguard program is useful for the patient. It looks at the number of hospital visits, the number of admissions to the hospital, how often the patient presents himself for first heart or first aid and the quality of life (by means of a questionnaire).
End of study
Our randomized controlled trial in patients with congenital heart disease has finalized the inclusion. In the upcoming two years we will follow these patients aiming to minimize the unplanned hospital visits. Will telemonitoring these patients be enough to direct them to the hospital when they feel ill? We are also interested in the quality of live, meaning will these patients feel better if they have more insights in their own health? We hope to answers these questions in due time.
